I've been playing WoW since Korean Beta Test were started. What's more I was always playing a Shaman, of course i had some several alts, but still Shammy is going to be love of my live.
In the vey begining when the Mulgore grass was greener that now is, when peopple were having fights with monsters which come from hell itself, when great warriors was facing Killing Ragnaros, Nefarian killing and smashing them.. Shaman were unfortunatly only.. healing..
That was preety bad times for us, we could only heal and heal on raids, everyone demand from us to go resto. I really dislike it, So i decide to fight with it! I just couldnt play like that anymore.
What's more intersting Shamans were king of Battlegrounds, while wearing some awsome Two-Handed weapons. we could literally one shot someone if we got lucky windfury proc, those were amazing times, Peopl were actually terryfied when they saw shaman chargin in them with Hand of Ragnaros, they already know what will happen, noone could survive, those deaths were always swift.
In this guide I will shortly explain how you can boost the leveling speed of your alt, with the assistance of a high level guildy / friend / someone really bored / someone you pay gold to :)
There are several ways to boost your alt leveling with the help of friends. I will count the main ways, and you can choose the one you like best.
Sidenote: I am not talking about the "recruit a friend" method here. If you're not sure what it is, it is when you send an invite to a friend threw the WOW's official website to open account, and then you can both level characters together, and have a major boost in XP gained.
Instance boosting:
Maybe the most popular boosting method. In this method you group of with a high level friend and you enter an instance that suits your low level character, and clear it over and over again (resetting the instance in between).
You basically try to avoid pulling and dying, while the high leveler does all the job and clears the instance. You will get very low XP from each mob killed (because you're grouped with a high level) but the fact that instanced are very packed with elite mobs makes up for that fact.
Downsides will be that your friend may find himself bored after repeating the same low level instance a couple of times.
A tip: before doing the instance for the first time, pick up the quests for the said instance, so that you will get a nice extra XP boost after the first run.
Quest boosting:
In this method your group up with a high level friend and you both travel the world while you do quests.
Pros:
You will finish quests VERY fast, and with the high XP rewards you have the potential of leveling a LOT faster then with instance leveling, and if you're in a PVP realm you will not be ganked at all.
Some players find this a more fun and enjoyable way of boosting then Instance boosting because it is less "grindy"
Cons:
However, you HAVE to know the quests you are doing VERY well so you don't waste time running around. If you're not sure where each quest is completed, you will end up leveling slower then with instance leveling and the running around aimlessly may bore your high level friend, especially in very low levels where you don't have and epic mount yet.
Also, because you're grouped with a high level char you will receive very low XP on creatures you kill, but your high level can pull them very fast, and even AOE pull them.
Tip:
Use a leveling addon that tells you where to go to pick up quests and where to finish them.
Follow me Around:
This method resembles simple quest boosting in the fact that the high level char follows you around, however he is NOT part of your group. In this method you "tag" a creature by attacking it, and the high level char just finishes the job and kills it for you.
Because you were the first to attack the mob, the creature's XP "belongs" to you, and therefore you will receive the full XP from killing the creature.
However, since you're not in the same party with your aiding friend, you will need to find a way to communicate (vent comes in mind). You will also need to be the first to target the creatures, meaning you will be limited by the amount of mana/ rage etc generated by your low char, resulting in a lower pulling rate then with the high char pulling.
This may be a very good method when you're leveling a hunter for example, because you can easily pull mobs without the need to replenish mana all the time and pull from range.
However, I find this method a bit outdated. It used to be popular when grinding mobs was a relevant way of leveling, but since blizzard greatly increased the XP gained from questing, I think the Quest boosting method is a lot faster and more convenient.
I hope you enjoyed this guide, if you have question or more tips on leveling with high level chars your invited to post them here. You can also check out my blog in this site :)
