How to: Sapphiron for Dummies guide (4,200,000 Hit Points normal/ 13,000,000 Hit Points heroic).Welcome to the Sapphiron Guide. If you've reached Sapphiron fight it means you have enough gear requirements to kill him, so it's mostly raid awareness and working as a team from now on, with one exception: You will need frost resistance gear for this fight to continue smoothly. No need to go overboard as to radically reduce your other stats. Am Item or two of frost resist coupled with a frost resist aura should do the trick. Because this fight is mostly raid coordination, the most dangerous part of it is the switch between Sapphiron' two phases, so as long as you got that part covered you're more then half way there. Sapphiron key abilities:Frost Aura (entire raid, 1600 frost damage every 2 seconds):This will start as soon as Sapphiron is pulled, and will increase dramatically after 15 minutes, wiping the raid. Drain Life (24 seconds Cooldown): A Dispelable curse that makes mediocre shadow damage to 5 random players (about 5-6K damage in heroic mode) and heals Sapphiron for about 3 times as much every 3 seconds. Failing to properly dispel this curse will usually make this fight impossible to finish and will cause a wipe. Chill: A constant AOE that travels around the room, possibility of multiple ones. Will cause low damage (2-3K in heroic) every 2 second and will slow movement by 50%. Keep an eye for the animation and get out of it ASAP. Ice Bolt and Frost Breath (45 seconds Cooldown): Sapphiron will rise up the air and will cast Ice bolt on several players(2 in normal and 3 on heroic) causing about 6-7K damage to them and to those near them, as well as place an Ice cube around the players that got the hit. Once there, they eye cube will blocks the line of site from Sapphiron, enabling players to hide behind the Ice block from the Frost Breath attack that follows. Frost Breath will insta- kill anyone that isn't hiding an Ice cube, so this is the highest priority for raid members. Frost has a 7 seconds cast time, so that the amount of time raid members have to run and hide behind an Ice Cube. Getting the hang of the Ice Bolt+ Frost Breath combo is the key factor in surviving this encounter, once you got that thing sorted out, you should be fine. Sapphiron strategy:1. Rush into the room. If it's the first try killing him there will be an animation of Sapphiron forming in the middle of the room. Make good use of the time: The tank should get ready to rotate Sapphiron so he faces away from the entrance, and the rest of the raid gathers to Sapphiron right side, making it easier for decursers to later on decurse the curses, and for people to run behind near by ice cubes.
If it isn't your first try, he should already be waiting in the middle. Be quick to get to your position. 2. Avoid the chills, and dispel the life drains. 3. As soon as Sapphiron emotes and rises up the air that means he's about to Ice cube the raid members and breathe. 4. The raid spreads out to avoid the Ice Bolt AOE hitting a lot of raid members. 5. The first instinct of the raid members would be to run and hide behind the first Ice Cube that forms- Don't. That will only cause the second Ice cube to land right on top of the raid group and cause massive damage raid wide. Players can get closer the ice cube, but don't all gather in the same spot. 6. Watch where the rest of the Ice cube(s) fall, it helps if players inside Ice Cubes "/y" (you can set a macro for that) that they are inside Ice Cube, so it will be easier to notice where Ice Bolt Landed. 7. When last ice cube formed everyone run to hide behind an ice cube. You will have 7 seconds to do that, so don't panic, it's more the enough time. 8. After Sapphiron breath the ice cubes will break. Quickly heal up the trapped members and continue back to step 2. Differences between 10 and 25 man version:On normal mode 2 raid members will get trapped in an Ice Cube, and on Heroic 3.Tips and Notes• Make good use of the time you hide behind the ice cubes: bandage yourself, or is you are DPS capable of healing toss a heal (if your mana permits it).
• .All decursing classes (even DPS) should help decurse Drain life. • Sapphiron can hit with his tale and has a HUGE attack box, so melee and other Raid members should be extra careful. • Sapphiron has high resistance to frost damage (QQ frost mages). |
