Magmaw Tactics Basics:Being the first (optional) boss in BlackWing Descent, the Magmaw Tactics are fairly simple, and easily explained. However, he DOES hit hard, and your raid will need proper raiding gear to overcome this encounter.Magmaw is stationary and don't change locations throughout the fight. If at some point during the encounter there will be no one near him at melee range, he will enrage and wipe the raid. The main damage will be done to Magmaw when he's impaled (read Step by Step Tactics below for more info). Back to Top Magmaw main abilities:Lava Spew:Massive AOE damage raid wide over 3 seconds. This ability alone will wipe you if you don't have proper raiding gear (it does around 100K damage). Pillar of flames: Medium damage attack against a single target, which leaves AOE on the ground that after a few seconds explodes and knockback nearby players and spawn adds that will start infecting your raid with lava Parasites. Infected players will vomit new copies of the mobs and so they will infect the whole raid. Ignition: High damage AOE, with patches visible on the ground. Back to Top Magmaw Tactics step by step:Magmaw tactics step 1Because Magmaw is standing beyond the broken floor, in a pool of lava, you will only be able to acess him from one side. Magmaw does have breath attacks, so you need to position your raid in the shape of half a circle around him: Your tank at one side of the hole in the floor, the melee on the other side of the hole, and the ranged scattered in the room itself. Magmaw tactics step 2 When pillar of flames hit (it actually looks like a small meteorite) have your off tank ready to pick up the lava creatures. Magmaw tactics step 3 The infection causes about 13K damage every 2 seconds, so not dealing with them ASAP may lead to a wipe. Make the lava adds your first priority and kill them ASAP. Magmaw tactics step 4 When Lava Spew is about to hit, be prepared for massive AOE damage on all the raid, and use defensive Cool Downs to help your healers keep you alive. Magmaw tactics step 5 Ingnition will be a massive AOE that fills half the room, quickly run to the other side until it's over. Magmaw tactics step 6 Every once in a while Magmaw will lean forward, allowing 3 players to jump on his back and use the chains to chain him and make him impaled so he takes massive amount of damage. This is your main "DPS phase". Save DPS CoolDowns for the time he's impaled. Magmaw tactics step 7 That's about it. The fight will continue with the above step again and again until he's dead. |
