Iron Council strategy for dummies guide

Iron Council strategy for dummies guide (Assembly of Iron)

The following Iron Council strategy refers to the Ulduar raid instance.  For discussions on the Iron Council strategy visit the Raiding Forum.

Iron Council Strategy basics:

The Iron council consists of 3 bosses: Steel breaker (the big one) Molgeim (medium one) and Brundir. Every time you kill one of them, the others will increase their damage by 25% as well as gain an additional ability.

Therefore the Iron council strategy would be to first kill Steel breaker, then Molgeim, and deal with Brundir last. Below is a narrated  iron Council Strategy movie

Iron Council bosses main abilities:

Steelbreaker abilities:

Fusion Punch (4 seconds, 10 – 20  seconds Cool Down):
Causes 8K nature damage each second.

High Voltage (aura):
2500 nature damage each second.

Static Disruption (AOE), enabled after 1 boss is down.
7.5K nature damage, as well as increases nature damage on targets by 50% for 20 seconds.
This is the main reason you want to kill Steel breaker first.

Runemaster Molgeim abilities:

Rune of power:
Molgeim summons a rune of power at the feet of a boss, increasing damage by 50%.

Rune of death (AOE): Enabled when 1 boss is down.
Molgeim places a Rune of Death at the feet of a raid member.
3K shadow damage every half a second.

Shield of runes: Enabled when 1 boss is down.
Molgeim places a shield of runes on himself, which will activate after he receives 30K damage while shield is on increasing damage by 50% for 15 seconds. Dispel or spell steal that.

Rune of summoning: Enabled when 2 bosses are down.
Molgeim summons water elementals that explode for 16K nature damage on 30 yards radius around them.

Stormcaller Brundir abilities

Chain Lightning:
Hits 5 raiders for nature damage.
Overload: (10 seconds cast, 30 Yards AOE)
Causes 25K nature damage.

Lightning whirl (5 seconds AOE, interruptible): Enabled when 1 boss is down.

Causes 7K nature damage to near by targets.

Lightinig Tendris (AOE): Enabled when 2 bosses are down.
Brundir elevates into the air and stats chasing players, cause 4K damage per second to raiders close to him.

Iron Council strategy:

The following Iron Council strategy assumes you killed the bosses in the following order: Steel breaker, Molgeim and Brundir.

Iron Council strategy step 1:
Tank all 3 bosses away from each other.

Iron Council strategy step 2:
  • Focus DPS on Steel breaker.
  • Whenever a Rune of power shows up pull the boss away from it, and let raiders receive the damage buff. (that will probably be your ranged DPS, to avoid bosses accidently gaining the buff and 1 shotting your tank).
  • Your raid needs to pull away from Brundir whenever when ever he overloads, so just tank him far away instead.
  • Dispel fusion punch ASAP from the Tank (Steelbreaker tank)

Iron Council strategy step 3:
  • Swap DPS to Runemaster Molgeim.
  • Stormcaller Brundir will now start to Lightning whirl: interrupt it, or there will be chaos. Ideally this will be interrupted by the tank.
  • Keep moving the bosses when runes of power show up, so that raid can have them.
  • Rune of Death will start to show up as well, run out of it ASAP. It may make it difficult for your tank to interrupt Brundir (because he has to move away) so make sure someone else is interrupting when that occurs.

Iron Council strategy step 4:
Only Stormcaller Brundir remains. He will take off and start chasing raiders radomly, spread out and stay clear from the raider being chased.

Iron Council strategy step 5:
The next time he's down, try to prevent his next casts (silence/ stun etc) to avoid him from taking off to the air again.
